Navigating new territories in a material world

Swiss watch brand Rado reaches new destinations in its exploration of futuristic materials and technologies.

A revolutionary attitude to materials is part of the Rado DNA. Ever since the company’s founder declared in 1957, “If we can imagine it, we can make it. If we can make it, we will,” Rado and the wearers of its watches have been on a continuous and eventful voyage of discovery. In 2011 a totally new material joins the long and growing list of Rado firsts - Ceramos™.

The substance of success

Rado reveals the latest breakthroughs in its committed pursuit of material and technological watchmaking firsts, based on a solid and proven track record.

In 2011, Swiss brand Rado reveals two major discoveries in its long-standing and relentless pursuit of new substances and technologies to shape the future of watchmaking. After several years of development, Ceramos™, a fusion of high-tech ceramic and metal, makes its debut in the Rado D-Star. Sharing the limelight is the world’s thinnest ceramic watch, the Rado True Thinline, which has demanded the reworking of all components and the use of an ultra-slim quartz movement with a thickness of less than 1 mm.
