Design by Nature

In Switzerland, nature surrounds us every day, lifting the stresses of modern life. So it was natural for Rado to co-curate Great Gardens of the World. The shared love of natural beauty and timeless design is a perfect alignment and has given rise to four majestic Rado collections, inspired by nature.

Loulu Lelo, Araucaria and the Dragon Blood Tree

The latest series of timepieces from this inspired collaboration pulls exquisite natural motifs from three quite-different plants into stunningly original dial designs. Each was chosen for the individual timepiece to match the mood and shade of its True Thinline monobloc high-tech ceramic case, in black, white or plasma grey. The plants selected — the Hawaiian Loulu Lelo, the Chilean Araucaria and the Yemeni Dragon Blood Tree — all presently on the endangered species list, bring sensuality and a lovely visual rhythm to the individual designs.

Collector's Box

Chapters 8, 9 and 10 of this new Rado "Great Gardens of the World" product line are available individually or as a trio in a special collector's display-box edition, limited to 99 units.

The Four Seasons

The four new models restate Rado's expertise in coloured high-tech ceramics, alongside innovative sapphire-crystal production technics. Each of the four models wears a different colour, from subtle to vivid, next to a unique, facetted watch glass to match the season. True to the eternal cycles of nature, the new models keep precise and reliable time, thanks to a Rado R420 quartz movement, with a two-hand display and 13 jewels.

For a full appreciation of the entire cycle, the Four Seasons series is also available in a handsome, limited-edition (150 pieces) collector's box, home and shelter to all four timepieces, to be selected according to the season or the wearer's mood. Each timepiece is a true celebration of Nature and its seasons—that sacred, eternal rhythm to our human lives.

Inspired by three elements

Inspired by three elements

The partnership began initially in 2017 when Rado sponsored Grandi Giardini Italiani, an organisation promoting the rich heritage of grand Italian gardens. With design influences ranging from the Renaissance to the contemporary, each garden shares characteristics of Italian design that have transcended the centuries: proportion, colour and tasteful combinations. To commemorate this original partnership, Rado launched the True Thinline Nature collection, a set of limited edition watches in three special edition colours inspired by the elements Earth, Water and Leaf.

In 2020, Rado decided to extend the association, this time on a larger scale, by helping to launch Great Gardens of the World. The organisation encompasses sites and institutions in 20 countries, as well as showcasing some of the world's best landscape designers. It gave rise to another sophisticated collection, Rado True Great Gardens of the World, combining natural elements with the very latest in high-tech materials technology.

'The great challenge for the garden designer is not to make the garden look natural, but to make the garden so that the people in it will feel natural.'

Lawrence Halprin, landscape architect
