RADO & Design
Rado is not only the proud recipient of over 30 international design awards: the brand also collaborates with leading designers on the creation of new timepieces and runs worldwide Rado Star Prize competitions for up-and-coming young designers. Design is the cornerstone of Rado’s many groundbreaking timepieces, and it’s also in the brand’s DNA.
Konstantin Grcic is one of the world’s foremost industrial designers. Known for his passion for technology and materials, Grcic was a natural choice for the 2016 redesign of the iconic Rado Ceramica. Famed for his pared-down pieces, Grcic is often referred to as a minimalist, but the designer himself prefers to speak of simplicity.
Leslie Chan is one of Taiwan's foremost graphic designers one of ten Taiwanese designers selected to act as a World Design Capital® Taipei 2016 Design Ambassador. Rado teamed up with Chan to create an exclusive timepiece in honour of the brand's partnership with World Design Capital® Taipei 2016: the pure white high-tech ceramic True Taipei Limited Edition, the dial of which takes its inspiration from the art of origami.
Jasper Morrison is a renowned product and furniture designer whose award-winning creations range from trams to tableware to mobile phones. Rado joined forces with Morrison on the design of the design-driven Rado r5.5, a high-tech ceramic watch collection that takes its name from the 5.5 mm corner radius of the case.
