Design by Nature

In Switzerland, nature surrounds us every day, lifting the stresses of modern life. So it was natural for Rado to co-curate Great Gardens of the World. The shared love of natural beauty and timeless design is a perfect alignment and has given rise to two majestic Rado collections, inspired by nature.

Inspired by three elements

The partnership began initially in 2017 when Rado sponsored Grandi Giardini Italiani, an organisation promoting the rich heritage of grand Italian gardens. With design influences ranging from the Renaissance to the contemporary, each garden shares characteristics of Italian design that have transcended the centuries: proportion, colour and tasteful combinations. To commemorate this original partnership, Rado launched the True Thinline Nature collection, a set of limited edition watches in three special edition colours inspired by the elements Earth, Water and Leaf.

Rado True Great Gardens of the World

In 2020, Rado decided to extend the association, this time on a larger scale, by helping to launch Great Gardens of the World. The organisation encompasses sites and institutions in 20 countries, as well as showcasing some of the world's best landscape designers. It gave rise to another sophisticated collection, Rado True Great Gardens of the World, combining natural elements with the very latest in high-tech materials technology.

'The great challenge for the garden designer is not to make the garden look natural, but to make the garden so that the people in it will feel natural.'

Lawrence Halprin, landscape architect
