Artigo

Artigo is a kindergarten playstand created in collaboration with Grande Fabrikker at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design. The playstand encourages various types of play, aiming to provide children with the opportunity to create their own worlds and utilize their own creativity. It was important for us to develop a product that can be used by multiple children at the same time. Through visits to various kindergartens, we discovered that children enjoy hiding, sitting in small spaces, climbing, and crawling. Therefore, we have designed a product that aims to meet these preferences.

With Grande Fabrikker as our collaborative partner, we focused on utilizing plywood panels in this project. Our primary goal was to minimize material waste, resulting in a design that embraces a geometric, playful, and visually captivating aesthetic.

The process involved exploring form and function through scale models in 1:10 and 1:1 ratios. This allowed us to understand proportions in relation to children, as well as material utilization and design language. We maintained an open and curious approach throughout the entire design process. Leftover materials from constructing the main structure were repurposed to stabilize the construction, such as in the benches on the upper level.
