Uidentifiserbart Fragmentert Objekt
Kjetil Smedal
A piece of wood may be used for many projects throughout its lifespan. But one thing is certain - the material will never increase in size. As it is being used over and over again it is cut into gradually smaller pieces. In the end only fragments are left of what was once a large tree. The project speculates on the gradually shrinking size of wood and ways to utilize the remaining pieces to construct rigid forms.
In this narrative, off-cuts and pieces are milled into identical blocks that can be assembled without glue or screws. Together they form solid objects. A constructed volume which may appear unrecognizable, yet functional at the same time.
