The High-Tech Ceramic Manufacturing Process
For centuries, ceramic has been shaped by heat, pressure and time. In watchmaking, High-Tech Ceramic transforms this ancient material into one of the most advanced case materials used today.
Through highly controlled manufacturing and advanced materials engineering, raw ceramic powders are transformed into an exceptionally durable and lightweight material. Each stage requires precision, expertise and patience to achieve the purity, density and refined finish that define Rado’s High-Tech Ceramic.
From raw material to finished component, the process takes five to six weeks. During this time, the material passes through several carefully controlled stages — each one essential in shaping the strength, precision and distinctive character of High-Tech Ceramic.
| PURE QUALITY | Raw material – pure zirconium oxide powder. Pigments are added to create colours | |
| READY FOR INJECTION | Powder and pigments are mixed with polymer binder | |
| PRECISION UNDER PRESSURE | The melted feedstock is injected under 1,000 bar pressure. The precision mould creates a monobloc. |
